Monroe Oxley is a passionate storyteller, artist, and educator whose work bridges the worlds of theatre, film, photography, and creative writing. A native Texan with a deep appreciation for the arts, Monroe has spent over 15 years as a Technical Director and scenic designer, shaping theatrical productions with his keen eye for detail and commitment to craftsmanship. His expertise extends into education, where he has been inspiring students for more than 13 years, helping them develop both the technical skills and artistic vision necessary to bring stories to life on stage and screen.
Currently, Monroe serves as the Scene Shop Manager and Technical Director for Southwestern University, where he plays a pivotal role in the university’s theatrical productions. His work ensures that each performance is supported by dynamic and immersive stage designs, seamlessly blending functionality with artistic expression. Beyond the theatre, Monroe’s love for storytelling extends into photography and film, where he captures the world through a unique and imaginative lens, always seeking new ways to explore narrative through visual mediums.
Monroe's dedication to the creative process doesn’t stop with design and production—he is also a writer at heart. Now pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso, he is further developing his skills in scriptwriting and storytelling. Through this journey, he is expanding his artistic range, delving deeper into the nuances of narrative structure, character development, and the power of language to evoke emotion.
